Busy weekend

I had a cake order, another Jimmy Choo Shoe Cake(yes)!!,another...I was so happy because I did it before, and my client saw pictures of my first shoe .She wanted the same cake. I made it a little bit different by putting make up and lipstick.  I think this time, the wrapping paper looks very natural and perfect...I liked the way it turned out..
The cake was Vanilla Cake with french Vanilla buttercream, I hope they like the cake. Here are the pictures of the second Jimmy Choo Shoe cake.

Actually, besides the Jimmy Choo, she wanted a baby shower cake too. The mother would be having a baby boy, so I put a lot of blue , green and yellow color. I made a pacifier, a  small baby bottle, a cute little bear, duckies and small pair of baby converse. I'm so happy with this cake because the cake was so flawless, no cracking at all...

My niece, Jessica will get married in July of 2011. She and her fiancee Bret have a website http://allthingszillal.wordpress.com, very funny blog. It's about their wedding, you should check it out.
Anyway, Jess told me that she wanted me to make a wedding cake for her. I'm so scared to make a wedding cake especially for a family member. I told her that I will practice first until I feel comfortable to make one for her. I will tell you more about Jess' cake later. Right now, I have to say good bye and will write again tomorrow...

More pictures

Hi.., what a lazy day, I can't focus and do what I have to do..., I have so many things to do and so little time. Anyway, I have a cake order for this coming friday, another Jimmy Choo Shoe. I will try to make it a little bit different even though my client wants the same cake.
The next picture is the cake that I made from one of Debbie Brown's books called Easy Party Cakes, I love Debbie Brown and I have almost all of her books.  To have the books from a good cake decorator is really helpful for you to improve your skills.

Easy Party Cakes: 30 Original and Fun Designs for Every Occasion

In the book she called this cake " Baking Day" , I like this cake, everything is so cute.

The next cake is the Pony Cake, and was my first cake order. I was so nervous to do this cake and I was trying so hard to be perfect to impress my client. I want to thank her for trusting me to make this cake for her daughter. It really built my confidence.

I think I have to go back to doing my cake for friday. I will write again tomorrow. Ta..ta...for now

Our friend, Kathy has been so nice. She took our kids to Santa Rosa to their summer house until Thursday... so I can relax a little bit and keep posting  the pictures of my cakes.....Thank you Kathy.  My next pictures will be the Sponge Bob Cake...This cake was for Peter, he loves Sponge Bob and Darres (his mother ) want to surprise him with this cake. And he loved the cake...

Across from our house, there is a house for old folks, and once in a while, my kids will go and visit them and read to them.  They are so happy when the kids come over, so I decided to make this Daisy Cake for them.
It took forever to make the daisies, but I was happy with the result. It was a beautiful cake and I think the cake will be nice  for Mother's Day too. So, here is the picture :

My niece graduated from middle school last May, and she told me that she wanted a Hot Air Baloon Cake for her graduation party. I was so nervous at first when she told me about  the Hot Air Baloon... How could I do  a Hot Air Baloon cake ?..., but my husband always believed that I could do it. So, I did it.. and she loved the cake, exactly the same as her design.

Wow, did you realize that I have been making a lot of cakes ? Feels really good to know that my skills have improved. I got challenged from the people who ordered my cakes.  Here is another example of the challenges that I have received. This girl loved the Bobby Jack  Monkey. To be honest, I never heard about it before, so I had to google it to get more information and pictures about this monkey. I didn't have the stufffed animal to carve the monkey, and I had to go to youtube and look there. What a challenge...
The color were also requested by the girl,  lots of yellow and purple...

I really have to stop writing now.., I have to start working on my cakes....will write again tomorrow.  And more cake pictures too tomorrow.

3. Pool Party Cake.
Besides the flip flop, I made this cake for the boys at the birthday party, The kids loved the cake. It was a big hit.

4. Hawaiian Theme Graduation Cake.
I’ve known Paulo since he was little, and he just graduated from high school. He will be going to University of Hawaii, so I made this surf themed cake with the board, coconut tree, and frangipani flowers. Paulo was so happy with the cake.

Ok, will post more pictures tomorrow..I hope you like my post...Please leave a comment if you can..
Thanks

I'm Back....

I’m back! It has been a while since my last post. I have been busy this summer, but not just with my cakes, but with the kids as well.

My sister-in-law bought me a book called The Help, by Katherine Stockett.

The Help

She said it’s a good book and that I should read it. And sure enough, it is a good book. I’m not finished yet, but I will tell you about it when I’m done.
Now then, back to cakes: I think I will start putting the pictures of my cakes in this blog.
1. Jimmy Choo Shoe.
I made this cake for practice after I saw it in the book, Confetti Cakes, by Elissa Strauss.

The Confetti Cakes Cookbook: Spectacular Cookies, Cakes, and Cupcakes from New York City's Famed Bakery

I think it turned out pretty good, to make the shoe, I bought a cheap shoe at Ross Stores and took it apart so that I would have a pattern.. You can go to You Tube to see the tutorial from Anne Heap of Pink Cake Box to see how to make this shoe.

2. Flip Flop Cake.
This cute cake was for the girls in my son’s class at their combined summer birthday party. It was easy to do, just by following instructions from the Planet Cake book by Paris Cutler.

I made some cupcakes to go with this cake
